Library of Things
The LaGrange Association Library is thrilled to offer a “Library of Things,” a diverse collection of non-traditional items that provide free opportunities for fun, education and enrichment, while also promoting sustainability and reducing waste. Whether you’re in the mood for outdoor adventure or prefer a cozy day in, we have something for everyone to enjoy!
Most items in the LaGrange Library of Things are available for check out to any patron with a valid Mid-Hudson Library System library card in good standing.*
Items must be checked out at the LaGrange Library and returned to a staff member at the Circulation Desk. Items may not be returned in the exterior book drop.

Our current collection includes:
- Puzzles and Games
Need a new game for your next game night? Choose from our selection of classic and new board games. We also house a variety of puzzles for all ages and experience levels! - Seasonal Seeds
Our seed library offers a number of vegetables, herbs and flowers to help you start a garden or try out new varieties! We also welcome donations of saved seeds from your garden, or unopened commercial seed packets.

- Amazon Kindles
Each of our convenient e-readers comes pre-loaded with approximately 50 of the most popular titles in a variety of literary genres. - Sewing Machines
Our Bernette 33 sewing machines feature an easy-to-use design with 15 different stitches, a seam ripper, foot pedal as well as five different sewing feet to support a variety of projects. Great for beginners and expert sewers alike!

- CD Players
These portable CD players offer a convenient way to listen to your favorite book on CD at home or on the go! - Museum Passes
Available for checkout to patrons ages 18+, we offer passes to several attractions including the American Museum of Natural History, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library & Museum, Mohonk Preserve, and our newest addition, the Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum! - Playaways
These handheld, battery-powered audiobook devices each contain one full junior fiction novel. Our collection includes the full Harry Potter and Wings of Fire series, as well as selected favorites from popular author Rick Riordan.

- Roku Streaming Devices
Stop in and check out one of our Roku streaming devices for your viewing pleasure. Pre-loaded with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, the streaming possibilities are endless! (Available for checkout to patrons ages 18+) - AWE Early Literacy Learning Tablets
Available for use within the library, each tablet is pre-loaded with age-appropriate, educational games for children ages 2-8 that enforce skills and concepts in science, technology, reading, English, arts, and math. (in library use only) - Early Literacy Kits
Geared towards children ages 2-8, these educational multi-media kits contain books, games and DVDs in a variety fun themes including sports, oceans, animals, food, and more.

- Nature Exploration Backpacks
Donated by the Dutchess Land Conservancy, each themed backpack contains a curated collection of items for fun and education outdoors. Our nature exploration collection contains backpacks for Birding, Forests, Nighttime and Tracking.

* As per Mid-Hudson Library System policy, residents of Union Vale are restricted from borrowing items from the Library of Things.
