Volunteer Opportunities

We continue to welcome new volunteers ages 14 and older.  From retired senior citizens, to high school students completing community service credit, to local Boy Scout chapters working on their volunteer service merit badges.  These are some of the many groups who contribute their time and talent to our community's Library.

In the past, we have graciously benefited from the efforts by local IBM retirees.  Thank you IBM, for your generous grant of $3000 to purchase 5 iPads with protective cases.  The addition of these devices has improved our public programming to children, as well as adults.  Are you an IBM retiree looking for volunteer options?  Please contact us.

Some of the many duties our volunteers help with include:

  • keeping library materials in proper order on the shelves (also known as Adopt-A-Section)

  • pulling items requested by library patrons from the shelves

  • weeding shelves of worn and unused items

  • sorting through book donations

Donate as little as 2 hours a week.  No prior library experience needed.  All tasks will be completed with the support and guidance of library staff.  If you're interested in becoming a volunteer, please fill out an application, which you can find here.  For more information call (845)452-3141 or email lagrangelibrary@laglib.org.
