Holiday Closings
The Library will be closed on July 4th for Independence Day.
Summer Reading Begins!
Image copyrighted by CSLP.
The adult and children’s Summer Reading Programs will run from June 7th to September 7th under the theme “A Universe of Stories”. Adults will record the books they’ve read online; children can record theirs online or use the paper form, if they prefer. The website is laglib.ny09.readsquared.com and goes live on June 7th. Look for the link on the library’s webpage.

All you do is sign up, make an account, and input the books you read. Accounts can be made for individuals or parents and children. Once a child registers or an adult reads the required 10 books, they can come to the library for a prize.

As you acquire points for each book read, you’ll get badges, unlock mini-games, and enjoy space-themed missions in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing this July! When you are done reading all the books required by the program, you’ll be entered into the raffle for your age group. There will also be a Summer Reading Party for all ages on August 2nd from 6-8 pm at Freedom Park!
New Services
Auto Renewals Are Here!
Effective May 15th, your checked out items eligible for renewal will automatically be renewed 2 days before they are due, adding the extension to the existing due date. Items that other patrons have on hold, that have been renewed the maximum of 2 times, or are not eligible for renewals, will not be renewed.

The auto renewal system helps you by renewing eligible items before they become late, eliminating those pesky 1 or 2 day fines! If the loan is extended but you don’t need the extra time, you can (of course) still return it by the original due date.

If you receive your library notifications by email, you will receive a courtesy notice letting you know of any items that were automatically renewed and those that were not. If you currently receive your notifications by phone, and would like to switch to email so you can receive these courtesy notices, please contact the Circulation Desk at 452-3141.
Color Printing Now Available
Our public computers and printer have been updated for speed and efficiency and now have color printing capability! Color prints are .50 per page and black & white prints are still .10 per page. Now you can print out pictures, maps, and other color documents for recreational use, personal enjoyment, and homework assignments.
Library Saves You Money
Next time you check out an item, take a closer look at your date due receipt – it shows how much money you saved by borrowing, instead of purchasing, your items. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised! Try it yourself by using the Library Value Calculator, an initiative of the American Library Association, located on the bottom right of our webpage at www.laglib.org.
“Smile” to Support Your Library!
If you order through AmazonSmile and select LaGrange Association Library as your charitable organization, the Library will receive 0.5% of your total purchase amount from the Amazon Foundation. AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know: same products, same prices, same service, so please consider shopping at smile.amazon.com and choosing the Library. It’s a small, simple gesture, but means so much! Many thanks for all of your continued support.
