November 2021
LaGrange Association Library
1110 Route 55, LaGrangeville
A Note from the Director
Mary De Bellis Library Director
Please join me in welcoming Danielle Haight-Mueller, our new Adult/Teen Services Coordinator. If you have an idea or suggestion for an adult or teen program, please email Danielle at dhaightmueller@laglib.org. She would love to meet you the next time you are in the Library!

Last month the Library was pleased to collaborate with our community partners for the success of 2 big events:

The Great Give Back - thanks to the generosity of our patrons, the Library donated a large box of much-needed pet food, treats, toys, and supplies to the Hudson Valley Animal Sanctuary.
The Town Bicentennial - The 200th celebration of LaGrange took place at Freedom Park, where many people visited the Library table, spoke with the staff, trustees, and Friends group about our great programs and services, enjoyed crafts, and participated in a fun contest to win a fall bag of goodies.

Watch our Reflections on LaGrange: Interviews & Stories series, done in honor of the Bicentennial, for interesting perspectives from Supervisor Alan Bell, Town Historian Georgia Herring Trott, and several other long-time LaGrange residents here.

The Library looks forward to furthering collaborations that bring the community together!

With my best wishes for a safe and peaceful Thanksgiving,
Mary
This month we are honoring Native American Heritage by encouraging our patrons to read stories from the Native community. By reading their stories we broaden our understanding of the lives and cultures lived by Native Americans for hundreds of years. All the books listed are available for checkout with your LaGrange Association Library card. Be sure to come into the library to view our Native American Heritage book display.

National Friends of the Library Week
October 17th through October 23rd was National Friends of the Library Week. Our Friends here at LaGrange are some of the best, so we took time to sit down and celebrate them. Over the last year, the LaGrange Friends of the Library have funded new window shades, the exterior signage for the library, and various books, materials, and refreshments for the Battle of the Books competition.

They currently have 6 active members who have been volunteering for as long as 15 years at the LaGrange Library. They believe that their most important mission as a group is to promote awareness of the library and help build the community it is in. The Friends Group is also an opportunity for them to meet new people and engage in literary discussions while working hard for a good cause.

They hope in 2022 to expand membership, acquire new active members, and diversify their group to bring in new ideas. If you are interested in becoming a member of the LaGrange Friends of the Library click here or contact them at friends@laglib.org
